shadowhive: (Vessel Snarl)
So it’s been awhile since I’ve done a Song Saturday but I decided I wanted to do one again. I was gonna do it last week but between low energy and headache I just didn’t. Anyway, here it is!

So a little while ago I was replying to [personal profile] rhoda_rants about Jamie Campbell Bower and also Sleep Token and then a few days later Jamie posted a cover of one of their songs! Apparently it was posted on twitter one night and got deleted soon after (which I missed), before Jamie posted it on YouTube.

I knew Jamie did music (especially since he’s on the cover of Rock Sound) but this was the first time I’d actually heard him sing and it’s a cover of a song I’m familiar with too. I’d say he does a pretty great job, especially with how Sleep Token songs are pretty challenging due to how varied they can be. And Euclid is one of my fav songs (and was the song closer on the recent tour).

I just love that’s like a whole worlds colliding type thing you know? Like I love Sleep Token, I love Jamie in. Stranger Things and so this is just 🖤 I hope he puts it on Spotify which is easier to listen to than YouTube.

Secondly we have TSS aka the French band that bewitched me at Set It Off. (What is it about Set It Off having supports that I fixate on?)

So this is my first time seeing the Killing Me video and I’m still not familiar with the band members names. (I really feel I should learn them cause I sense I’ll do something with them.) Their songs are done in a mix of French and English and I just love that they seem to change on the fly which is pretty impressive.

The video does seem to have the vibe of bringing one of the guys back to life though there’s not as much focus on that as there should be. (There’s him on table and lightening but that’s about it). But I did like the shots of him kinda hanging and you do get a good vibe as to what the band look and sound like (the main singer’s outfit is pretty much what he wore on stage)

I will love you back to life is a line that goes so hard though.

I’m curious what their other videos are like so might have to check them out soon. I’ll definitely see them if they ever do a solo uk tour though I don’t see that happening for awhile.

Anyway that’s it for now, hopefully you enjoyed both of the songs. I’m now gonna have some noms and flop a bit.

It’s the return of song Saturday! There’s not been one for awhile, partly cause my head being so bleh but also there’s not been many good songs lately, at least ones with videos. (Damnit Set It Off please do videos again there’s not been one in a forever😭)

However I was on YouTube watching something else last week and this showed up in my recommended thingy on the side. So this is The Ballad Of Witches Road from Agatha All Along.

I’m not gonna lie this song (and all the various versions) has been in my head since I first heard it. I’m serious, not a day has gone by without me mentally humming it at least once (and often far more).

The song is first performed (as the clip shows) at the end of the second episode and every title is a line from one of the song’s versions. (I say versions because there are six versions sung by the cast.) as such the song is the backbone of the show and damn, is it so well performed. (And well written like, damn whoever marvel got to do it really made a banger with this one).

I could say more but I’d worry I’d spoil the show for someone that hadn’t seen it (and it really is such an amazing show it’s definitely the best thing I’ve seen this year show wise).

***

Yesterday proved to be so irritating, because I got so headachy I had to lie down. I barely watched any of Children In Need (opting to half listen to it instead) but I did see the new Doctor Who clip from the Christmas special. It did feel a tad wordy for a preview clip but it did end with a t-Rex! So I’m excite for that.

Alas Seapeekay’s journey in squidcraft ended last night, along with virtually all the remaining English speakers. It sucks that they all went out in one game (most going in one go) and also the person I was gonna watch if Seapeekay went out got out too boo. Just Luzu, Spreen and Rubius are left from the qsmp so I hope one of them makes it till the last day.

The Xbox Black Friday sale went live the other day, which feels odd cause it ends 4 days after Black Friday. However what is good is that Alan Wake II was in the sale! It’s half off so I ended up getting that, not that I’m sure when I’ll play. I’ll look through the rest at some point too.

This morning mail came and yay more dungeons and dragons adventurer (help I’m drowning in dice) and some from the Xbox uk stream that had been delayed for people.

I dunno what tonight’s plan is. I’m gonna watch strictly then Moonflower Murders (despite not finishing Magpie Murders opp) and then I dunno. I wanna do the sims 4 reappears reward quest, but I hate how the interface is so small and hard to read on Xbox. I might try and watch something but I’m not sure (maybe Stranger Things, cause I watched an ep the other night and wanna know how it goes, or maybe an Amazon thing). But we’ll see what my mood/mindset/focus is like.
shadowhive: (Awsten Wedding dress)
(For other recent song Saturdays see here)

So of the original five bands I wanted to see at Slam Dunk Waterparks is the second band I most wanna see. And between the Set It Off post and this one the set times have been posted so I can see most of the bands I wanna see woo!

So why is Waterparks second? Well I’ve really wanted to see them again, I only saw them once, and I’m still kicking myself for missing the last tour. I almost went to see them in November but because it was at the terrible venue I was put off (and I’m kicking myself more cause Seapeekay was there too!)

I got into Parx way late so I missed most of the hype but they’re just so pretty and Awsten is so incredibly unhinged. And I love how his hair is always a wild bright colour

I’m gonna post three vids now (I think that seems to be a decent amount) but unlike Set It Off it felt a bit harder to choose which three (especially since there’s some I’ve not seen and probably should've). So maybe I’ll do another post with them somewhere down the line cause I definitely feel I’ve missed a good video or two. (it doesn’t help that it seems they’re scattered around the place and not all on their YouTube)

(Also when are we getting a serial killer Otto vid? I need it. [I should finish that fic with him])

First off is Crave which is my fav of the three songs, and one of my fav Parx songs cause it gets stuck in my head. It’s a shame it’s an early song cause it doesn’t get played as often.

The video feels pretty random, I think it was just an excuse for the band to have a video with dogs (which fair!) and to use the name Waterbarks. And then there’s the fact the boys are dressed up in dog suits for some reason? Which definitely feels like someone (probably Awsten) has a fetish.

Next is Violet! Which is a massive time jump from Crave (2015 for Crave, 2021 for Violet) so again I definitely feel I’m missing some good videos from the interim.

Violet!’s from Greatest Hits which is, possibly, my fav album of theres, maybe cause it was the first new one that came out since getting into them. Violet! Is kinda a story video about Awsten being stalked by a strange eyeball thing. It feels the stalking could’ve been more of the focus (I mean it has a lyric about broken knees which feels, like Set It Off’s projector having a Hannibal refer but no content in the vid, like a missed opportunity)

Lastly is Funeral Grey, which is probably an odd choice. When I first heard it I was a bit eh about it, but it’s kinda grown on me, mostly cause of the lyrics feeling like it’s an excuse for Awsten to be pervy.

The vid is strange but again feels like it’s an excuse for Awsten to be kinky. This time he is collared and then tied up in intricate rope bondage for reasons which only he knows.

It’s a shame there’s not a video for Brainwashed, but I’m sure it would’ve been so unhinged.

Hopefully I’ll do another post later, either a general one or the round up or maybe a fic.
shadowhive: (Wuant Dead)
So as I mentioned in my last post I thought of doing a second bonus song Saturday so here it is. While yesterdays was about a Slam Dunk band (and others will continue on that vein) this one is much more general.

So a few months back there was a QSMP event called Purgatory 2, which included a load of people from outside the server. The timing was pretty bad so I didn’t watch much (especially cause the first purgatory was eh and it wasn’t explained when things were happening) but Seapeekay was a part of it so I watched some of his stuff. His team, the crows, were all unfamiliar to me and he was the only native english speaker on the yet somehow the team did pretty well and they even named him captain. (For some reason there was a stripper pole in the base and he danced on it so maybe that’s why) plus the team made it to the end which was impressive.

(And they really bonded, they’re gonna get crow tatts and Seapeekay is gonna go to see Wuant in Portugal and I’ve already started something with them)

Anyway! One of the members of his team was called Wuant and I was drawn to him a bit, possibly cause I’m a sucker for a guy with curls or maybe cause of his thick thighs. I was looking at his insta and found he did music so I decided to check it out the other week. I expected it to be in Portuguese but it’s in English and they’re pretty good and have been stuck in my head ever since. So here is some of his stuff.

First is Sympathise, which is done under the name Blueyes. I dunno if that’s just a stage name or a band name (I think possibly the latter since the vid has a drummer). It’s a pretty good song, though the video is basic being shot in black but it gives it a cool aesthetic. My fav parts are when the mic is on fire, and when Wuant has some tape over his mouth for some reason. (But who cares it’s hot!)

The second video is called Killer and I’m not gonna lie it’s my fav of the three. It’s also the first one I listened to cause I saw an insta poster for Killer and it was just👀. Unlike the rest this one isn’t just a performance vid it tells a story, with Wuant being stalked and ended up being killed… by another version of himself. Which is a hot concept (especially cause killer Wuant has these black leather gloves) and the whole thing feels… I dunno it just feels so great. Although I do wish there was a shot of killer Wuant with a knife, though I love the shot of his body. (Which the poster and my icon is of)

And I love the lyrics, which are obviously killer themed and are gonna be stuck in my head. (So I guess I might do something with him as a Killer?).

Lastly there’s Out Of My Head, which is from his new three song thing Wunderland which is done with a guy called Blender (and also under Wuant as opposed to Blueyes. The song is pretty good (though my fav of the three songs is Save You). The video is basically them singing the song against a cityscape background, but Wuant does show off his thighs by wearing shorts inexplicably (though it is hot!) and slapping his ass too.

Anyway time to snuggle, watch No Dice and maybe fic/to some reading later.
shadowhive: (Maxx Buff drumming)
So I’d been intending to do a song Saturday series for Slam Dunk for months now, but things kept coming up/going wrong so instead of doing one every month/few weeks I’ve just not, boo! Anyway this is gonna be the first one, there is (hopefully) gonna be 4-7 of these but we’ll see.

The first 5 are gonna be done in order of my excitement to see them. With the last two being the newer ones so I’m not sure how I’ll place them.

So since Set It Off are first they’re the ones I wanna see most, meaning they’re the band who I will see regardless of who else is playing at that slot (shouldn’t be a problem, most of the bands I wanna see are the same stage). This is in part cause my time seeing them ended up being a disaster and I missed some of their set as a result, so I wanna see them properly (even though the festival set will be much shorter)

Anyway, onto the songs for them. I’ve decided on three, from the last three ‘eras’ they’ve done (I could do earlier ones but I figured three is enough.

First is the Midnight era song, Lonely Dance.

Midnight was the era that I got into the band and this was one of the first songs I heard that got me into them. Lonely Dance is one of my fav songs, even though (or perhaps because) it’s a song about depression and one I relate to as a result.

The video however is so… I say it’s like MCR’s Ghost Of You in the sense the video isn’t what you’d expect the song to be. It’s set on a spaceship, with a creature picking off the band one by one and killing them. I’ve no idea what made them do that but I love it, it’s such an awesome concept and it kinda feels like no expense was spared? The spaceship feels like it could be a set for a show or film, the prosthetics and make up wouldn’t lipook out of place in one either and it just feels so… (ironically) cinematic.

Also Maxx looks pretty with his bandana during the drumming sections and he does the drumstick twirl I love.

Next is the Elsewhere era song, Skeleton.

Skeleton was the first song from Elsewhere and it really set the tone. It’s my fav of the songs that they released as a single from it and I’m not sure if it’s cause it’s the first one I heard. What I love about the Elsewhere vids is that everything is so bright. The whole band have bright coloured hair (Maxx’s green hair is such a look) and the sets for the vids are equally bright, with a riot of colour.

Skeleton starts the Elsewhere vids showing off how weird and strange the brightly coloured world is. There’s a waiting room with strange people (including a devil, a nice reference to one of their other songs) and then it ends with Cody strapped down with the implication of surgery being done to him. It’s just so strange. The other Elsewhere vids are set in the same sort of world but it kinda feels they didn’t tell the whole story they meant it too. (Though now I wanna watch the other Elsewhere vids to be sure)

But again, Maxx is hot with the green hair.

Lastly is the current era song, Punching Bag.

The current era is kinda strange. It doesn’t have an album yet like the others, despite a few songs put out and Punching Bag is the main one with a video. it’s odd cause in the promo for some of the other songs there are clips of what is clearly from a music video (with Evil People especially) yet there’s no video for them. It’s strange.

I do love the aesthetic of this one, though, with some of it seemingly recorded on video giving it a found footage type feel. And I love how their eyes are kinda scratched out a few times. It makes me wonder (especially with the eyes at the start) if it means something but I’ve no idea.

I end on some pictures. I think it’s pretty obvious from this (and the few Set It Off fics I’ve done), that I have a fav member and that member is Maxx. I dunno there’s just something about him that I love. Maybe it’s cause I watched him stream a bunch and got to know him via that, or maybe it’s just cause I find him pretty.

Anyway there ends my song Saturday vid post/thirst pics of Maxx Danziger. (I just love him and crave more content with him please someone do some)

Next week I might continue this was the next Slam Dunk band (though I might do a bonus song Saturday tomorrow too unrelated)
shadowhive: (Seapeekay Scenepeekay)
So it’s the first song Saturday of the year! But it’s not exactly the one I was intending to do. I was intending to start a series on the Slam Dunk bands I was looking forward to, intending to do the first yesterday (and the week before), but the day kinda got away and I got stressed by other things so didn’t. I thought of doing it today but it was the same thing so I’m just doing something shorter instead!

So this is Ourfamous Dead’s vid for Claws At The Door.

So the main reason I watched this is Seapeekay had been back on his band era (which seems to be more regular) and when he posted pic he included the band’s name in a reply so I decided to look them up. It’s obvious that the main Scenepeekay pics he uses are from this vid, he’s posted them enough and he looks cute, even though his in motion most of the time so you can’t see his face clearly)

But I think it’s a pretty good song! And the video is too. Sure it’s a basic performance vid, but every band member gets some focus which doesn’t often happen (especially the drummer) and I like that there’s blood, although only the singer gets any on him which is a bit of a shame. It does make me wonder if they’d had more budget if there’d have been some sort of monster behind the door, which does set the mind racing a bit.

Unfortunately the band’s music as a whole seems to be lost media. It’s on Spotify (apparently it was at some point or maybe that was another band Seapeekay was in) which is a shame cause there was at least two cds from what I can find out (so if anyone has ideas of places that might have them lemme know!).

This also seems to be the only video that they did which is a shame, though when I searched for them there was a video diary of a tour they did with another band which I’m gonna try and check out for Scenepeekay content. I wish I could remember the other band’s name he was in so I could look them up too but since he’s nostalgic I fully expect them to come up sometime this week.

Anyway! There we go, Song Saturday post! I might have a regular post tomorrow (or a fic post) but we’ll see.
shadowhive: (Rich Topless)
So it’s been awhile since the last song Saturday because I’ve been a faily. I was gonna do one a few weeks ago with Set It Off and Cody but just… didn’t. Maybe in the coming weeks.

However now I’m posting two vids, that I both watched yesterday and I’m posting them together because they have a similar (yet different!) vibe.

First is Funeral For A Friend, Serpents In Solitude.

Now I’d not listened to Funeral For A Friend for awhile, until writing the fic last week sparked me listening to them again. (I’m kinda sad I likely won’t be able to see their tour, both because of the venue choice and cost of the tickets both of which are ugh)

Anyway onto the song! It’s only one that I recognised by name, but I recognised it when I listened to it yesterday. And it’s pretty good but the main thing is the vid.

When [personal profile] carrythefire linked it me yesterday I couldn’t remember what it was by name alone, but when I pressed play and watched I vaguely remembered watching it an eternity ago. I love the slight found footage vibe at the start and how the band are unconscious throughout, being manhandled and strung up, manipulated as literal puppets. Apparently it’s a commentary on how musicians are used as puppets by the music industry but honestly? It just looks kinda kinky.

The only bad thing I’d say is that there’s not enough shots of Rich, because long haired Rich is such a good look and we only get a few flashes!

While Serpents is 12 (!) years old, this second video isn’t even 24 hours old yet. It’s the new Lovejoy video, for Normal People Things.

So the new Lovejoy song came out on midnight Friday and because of the timing I only listened to it once. For me I feel that it’s a grower of a song. When I heard Call Me What You Like, I instantly loved it. With this it feels like it’ll a slower creep (though again, it might be because of listening to it late). I definitely like it more after watching the accompanying video.

The video has the band in various 70’s style outfits and poses and, for most of it, they’re barely moving. Their only movement is Wilbur singing and the others playing their instruments. (And I love Mark’s lil drum that they have for him.) Towards the end there is a brief section where they do play normally, but that only highlights the contrast of the rest of the video.

(I think my favourite shot is about 1:50 in, where Wilbur is singing looking dead at the camera and stays still, while changing outfits and the others do too)

The thing is that there’s also flashes of actual mannequins and it just seems to hammer home that the band are actual mannequins or treated as them. And then that last shot, where they go from being energetic to completely still, like someone said a trigger which stopped them it’s so…

(And yeah there’s absolutely being a kinktober prompt based on this concept because it’s so….)

****

There’ll be a more regular post at some point soon. (And I still need to post the round up thing)
shadowhive: (Maxx Pretty)
Usually song Saturdays have at least a vague connection (even if it’s just that they were released in the same week) but these two don’t.

I’m meant to do this yesterday or earlier but didn’t have the focus or energy.

First is James Marriott’s new song, Romanticise This.

So this was released a few days ago, along with the song. The song itself is sad about a break up and the video is kinda along those lines. However everyone else in the video apart from James (his partner, a therapist, a balloon seller) are all ballooons, which leads a slight air of ridiculousness to it all.

It makes me curious how they came up with that! It’s directed by his friend Orr (who was also in the grapes video) so I’m sure it was something they both came up with together.

And yeah, James look all disheveled in this is kinda… he looks damn good.

But yeah, it’s a good song it’s just sad. I’m guessing he’ll have a new song in a month so we’ll see if that’s sad too or more upbeat.

And now by contrast there’s Set It Off’s a forever Stuck In Our Youth which is 8 years old. I’m not gonna lie I only wanted to watch this because I saw gifs on tumblr.

It’s an upbeat happy kinda song but it’s not one of my favs (I don’t know Upside Down as much as I should) which is why I missed it getting a vid. But I like the necklace and fireworks in the shape of the symbol they had for that album.

And yeah, the sole reason I watched was because of those gifs, which had Maxx and Cody shirtless. I fully expected it would be a blink and miss it type thing but they were like that the entire time. More twinky boys shirtless in videos is needed! Maybe I’ll see if I can get good pics to make a icon (and work on a wip with Maxx soon because he’s just so pretty)

***

I was also going to do an update post separately as well today but I’ve been feeling headachy from the storm. Soundstage post tomorrow (either combined with or separate to the monthly round up, most likely the latter)
shadowhive: (James Bubbles)

So I was intending to post about James Marriott’s new song on Saturday but then he didn’t post the video until late and I couldn’t watch. So I was going to watch and post this yesterday and then got majorly distracted so…

Again this feels very much like another case of love the song, the video not so much. And I do, I love the song so many. I listened to it a lot on Friday after it came out and it’s so good. The video is just a bit… I dunno. Maybe it’s the weird effects or not being able to see much of the band I dunno.

Having said that I’m glad we get a new James song and I’m excited for more, I hope he does another tour soon because he was so great at the Lovejoy show and I really think he could play a venue that size himself. (I mean everyone was singing along which is so so rare for a support act). And just ahhh!

(Hopefully I’ll have the big Generation Loss post I’m working on soon)

***

On Saturday I did what I was gonna do which is watch Temple Of Doom in the afternoon. The thing about Temple is I remember it being the weakest of the first Indy films and then I watch it and think that it’s a lot of fun. (Bar the dinner scene.) Plus, yeah, there’s shirtless and sweaty Indy which is nice to look at.

After that there was the Wholesome Games Direct which was full of cute games with animals and cuteness. Three stuck in my mind:
*Smushi Come Home: which has a cute lil mushroom adventuring and looks cute (and rides capybaras!) and it’s out now with a discount so I might pick it up
*I Am A Caterpillar: which is about a caterpillar that doesn’t want to turn into a butterfly which sounds like such an interesting premise
*Manitas Kitchen: which is about a t-Rex that wants to be a pizza chef which sounds so endearing

After that there was MCC pride and I watched Ranboo’s pov again. They were dressed as spider Gwen and said they’re gonna do at least a few more MCC’s which is good. They’re also back in Brighton which is a surprise because I figured they’d stay in the US awhile before coming back.

On Sunday I ended up watching The Mummy based on Ria’s suggestion (and it was on Amazon prime which I still have for awhile on student discount, though I need to contact them about keeping it). Anyway it’s such a fun film I love it so much and I’m glad I decided to watch again. Plus I love Evelyn she’s so awesome. I might watch the others if I still have prime (i remember liking the third one when I saw it despite thinking it was so stupid of them to recast her)

I also did some Zelda and I’m still not really doing much. I’ve mostly just been randomly adventuring and not getting far in any of the main stories or quests. I wanna get back to Hateno to finish the election quest line, which is my main goal with Zelda this week. We’ll see how that goes.

Yesterday was also the Xbox showcase and there were a lot of interesting looking games. The top three are easy though.

*Still Wakes The Deep looks basically like The Rig if it was a game. Ok not exactly, bits set on an oil rig, shrouded in mist and there’s something strange going on there. So yeah naturally I’m interested.
*Starfield: which looks amazing and I’m really hyped for it. Making your op own spaceship and exploring the stars looks so cool (though the lack of sentient aliens so far seems… odd but you do get a robot friend!) I’m glad it’s coming to game pass though
*Lastly there was Star Wars Outlaws which was a surprise addition in the first three trailers. It looks so cool and everything I hear about it sounds awesome! There’s gonna be a deeper look into it during the Ubisoft direct tonight but look at this cutie!

This is Nix the main characters lil friend! And I love them already look how cute they are!

Last night the thunderstorm rolled in and I thing it messed with my head because my head went achy and I went up to bed early again (bleh). I hoped it would clear some of this annoying heat but it seems not, which sucks because I can tell it’s gonna be overbearing and stifling if it keeps up.

This week I’m hoping to:
*Finish the last Who Ray stuff to finish the season
*Rewatch the first spider-verse movie (and maybe see the new one depending on weather and cinema)
*Read more Quest For Planet X
*Fic
*Watch the rest of The Empty Man
*Maybe start The Chant
*Finish The Hateno election quest

I am 80% sure I’ll get distracted and won’t be able to do them but… we’ll see.
shadowhive: (Jay Call)

So in the last post I mentioned how I thought about making a ‘stuff that makes me happy’ post a song one but then I got distracted and hazy and so didn’t.

However I ended up deciding to make (a slightly late) one now.

So this is the new Kill The Lights song, Broken Bones.

It’s a good song, I like it (even though I’ve only heard it fully twice). They’d been teasing something the past week before it came out, doing a countdown on their insta and this was what came out when the days hit zero.

The video I’m not so much of a fan of (it seems to be a thing for bands to do eh music vids lately). And I think that’s mostly due to it being shot in black and white and the lighting not being too great. Having boxing as a theme seems to fit the song though and main boxer guy is kinda pretty (why does he make me think of Cellbit?). And I also liked when it shown the band performing the song it seemed to give everyone equal time and not just focus on the singer.

One reason I did this was because Jay shared a pic on his insta story and it just amuses me so much.

It’s a shot of the band and people that made the video and there’s Jay, being noticeably shorter than everyone else and I just think that’s so cute.

And I’m also glad he looks so happy in it. Longtime people here will know that Jay was Bullet For My Valentine’s bassist and I somehow developed a hyper fixation on him (I dunno why, maybe it’s cause he’s cute and smol but buff and his voice is so soft and adorable even though he’s a screamer). After four albums Jay left the band (or was kicked out? Things are kinda hazy about that and I still haven’t watched the recent ish interview he did) and then he vanished completely. I also kinda lost interest in Bullet with him being gone? (Ive not seen them live since and not really heard their stuff, although saying that Gravity is their best album)

Anyway awhile later Moose (the drummer) left Bullet too and started a new band called Kill The Lights. I didn’t really listen to them much or pay too much attention, until they I saw them post a vid introducing their new bass player (I dunno what happened to their old one). I watched on the offchance it might be Jay (though expecting it not to be) so I was so surprised and delighted to see that it was!

Of course I had to go and see them at their Birmingham gig, which ended up being at the tiniest venue (it was pretty much a stage set up under a pub) but it was so nice to see him onstage again, especially thinking I never would again. Plus I got to meet him after! And get a pic! Which was very much an ahhh moment! (And the support were great too)

Hopefully with this new stuff they’ll do another tour and I’ll get to go see them again, hopefully at a place that’s not so small and far out that I get lost on the way there and back.

Now though I’m gonna stay bundled, maybe do some gaming and some pondering. (And yay at least I did watch some of the Who ray special features for the time monster last night so there’s only a few bits left)
shadowhive: (Sykkuno Glasses cutie)
So I feel well enough to do song Saturday so here it is, with two of Shoto’s songs, Overdose and Villian.

Like with James and Wilbur in Lovejoy, Shoto is a streamer only I’m not exactly sure how or why I saturated watching him. Was it from a raid? It would make sense because he’s been on Foolish’s and Sykkuno’s streams. Was it cause there was a drop for some game and I watched him for that? That’s also likely.

Unlike James and Wilbur no one knows what he looks like because he uses a vtuber thing, which is what the art of the videos is based on. (And he’s quite pretty)

Both Overdose and Villian are cover songs, but I have no point of reference for either. I’m assuming that they’re from anime’s or games or something but honestly I have no idea. Overdose is the kinda upbeat song that gets stuck in your heard while the lyrics of Villain are kinda 👀. I’m not sure which I like more. I learn towards Villain , but Overdose just gets stuck in the head. (And yeah maybe Villain having a knife helps)

For a feel of Shoto’s streams here’s a compilation he posted recently of him and animals in things and… well see for yourself

***

I fell a bit better than yesterday despite waking up with a terrible stomach it has faded over the course of the day. If it will stay away I dunno.

I did manage to watch the new Sorry boys video (fembur is pretty), some qsmp and foolishes stream last night (before I went tired) and, surprisingly, did a chapter of Resident Evil 4 today (Villain Leon is so pretty, as is Luis now I’m seeing him properly). We were gonna watch Guardians vol 2 but I didn’t feel I had the focus and when I did mum wanted to finish her book (hence resident evil 4)

Tonight’s plan is… I dunno. It depends on if anyone streams and if my tummy stays fine (hopefully it will). Then again I might just get tired like I have recently too.
shadowhive: (James/Wilbur Hand kiss)
So I’ve been so faily at doing song Saturdays and im gonna try and get back into them (next week will be Shoto’s stuff). I was gonna do this particular one closer to the gig but I kinda faily cause of getting so distracted by everything and being so… eh.

But anyway here’s the post gig one, with one song from Lovejoy and one from James.

So first is the Lovejoy vid One Day.

I’d not seen either of these vids before today, so I’ve only watched these once, right before making this post. I heard a mention that there was a vid for The Fall which I was hoping to use (it’s one of my fav Lovejoy songs) but there doesn’t seem to be one so I decided to use this one since I’d not seen it before

In a way it’s not surprising I’d not seen it because it’s not my fav song (one of the first lyrics is one I don’t l like at all) but it’s got a vibe that I can’t try and describe. Wilbur with a cigarette in his mouth is kinda… and then Ash is introduced kinda like a cryptid (he definitely feels like one) and Joe is just… random ply beat up (I’m not sure who did it I wonder if it’s someone I’d recognise). And then Mark is just drumming on the beach. It’s a bit random and strange but somehow fits.

Second is James Marriott’s Grapes

Random and strange is how you could describe James’ vid. Having it be all… round is certainly a choice (I know there must be a technical term for it but I dunno what it is). It’d probably work better if it wasn’t but it’s least it was distinctive.

Unlike One Day it’s probably more strange I didn’t watch Grapes before as it’s one of my fav James songs. I dunno why, maybe it’s the beat or something, but I just do.

The vid’s a mix of random things of James and other people, I recognise Lovejoy Ash, Kit, Pinely and Jago… and Jago puts a cucumber in his mouth which is honestly kinda… And honestly I’m surprised that grapes actually only appear once in the vid. But it was definitely fun and random.

Another post later maybe (it might be a late one or an AMA a response we’ll see)

Shorter post for this song Saturday but two vids instead,

First is Adam’s song, which is Ordinary World. This new album (which I’m going to pick-up tomorrow for the signing) is an album of covers, with some songs I’m familiar with and some I’m not. The original Ordinary World is one I’d heard on the radio before (it’s seemingly been on more since I’ve heard Adam’s).

I think of the songs from the album that were on Spotify (before the album release Friday) this was my favourite one. It’s just so… haunting and I think that’s why I like it so much.

(I’m listening to the other songs on the album now and I think it’s definitely my fav one)

The other song is Weathers All Caps, which came out Thursday. Watching the vid for this was my first time hearing it and it’s a bit… I dunno. Maybe it’s a song that’ll grow on me, because it’s not as instantly hooked me like Where Do I Sign did. It also feels a bit all over the place, what’s with the courtroom? (Though it made me think of the new sorry boys vid I’m gonna watch soon) and what’s with the hospital pit?(and why couldn’t it be Cameron strapped down?

In short my main thought of the vid is, Cameron pretty. And that’s it.

Brief thoughts on yesterday.

*I finished the xbuxpass on the Xbox uk stream with two streams to go so I’ll be getting the mug woo!
*I still haven’t got the moon bear and need to chase it up in a few days
*I watched a little of a gameblast stream and donated a little…. Which was enough to get me drawn for the Skyrim anniversary code (I’d have preferred other things but I’ll take it) I guess that means I’ll be heading back to Skyrim at some point
*I found out the War Doctor audios are back on radio 4extra so I listened to the first one last night and it was pretty good! The next one is tonight so might listen live on the radio
*I went drained again yesterday, not helped by how cold it suddenly went ugh
*We watched Beyond Paradise on the player today and it seems to be quite good so far
*I might game a bit in a few but I’m not sure

Tomorrow is the Adam signing so I’ll be out all day (hopefully I’ll be back in time to see Eret cook on Recipe For Disaster, I hope they win…. Wait if they do that means they might be in the same room as James in the semi final…. WIN ERET!) I’m hoping to get a few things from Birmingham, namely the new Who magazine special and I might get the new Scream since it’s on offer in hmv. But we’re gonna be taking it slow and not go too many places because of mum’s ankle (she’s still determined to go which is good, I just hope she’ll be ok)

Anyway I’m gonna finish Adam’s album then watch Sorry Boys and maybe game, but we’ll see. (And I’m sure I’ve missed something but my head is kinda fuzzy)

So today is another Song Saturday post, this one is about The Kid Laroi. I’ll be honest I don’t know much about him, in fact I had no idea who he was about a month or so ago, but I watched the Fortnite concert thing he did (mostly for the free stuff) and damn the songs got stuck in my head (although some aren’t on Spotify so I assume they’re from an upcoming album maybe?

So here’s two of his songs, Stay and Love Again.

Should I have included that Stay has Justin Bieber in? Maybe. Of the two videos I think I like the Stay one more, cause it’s pretty cool how everything is frozen in it like that. And I like the odd floaty pose at the start (the fortnite made an emote)

The Love Again one feels a bit stranger, mostly because he’s dating a mannequin? (What’s with people and mannequins lately?) and then he becomes one at the end? I dunno.

Anyway there’s are two of the main songs from the fortnite set that I liked, as well as A Thousand Miles.

Yesterday we had a slight scare cause the power went out, but it was only out for a few minutes. At first I thought the fuses had gone but they were fine. And then I saw the light of a power lead back on. I dunno what caused it, but I heard an alarm sound so maybe it got that too.

I’ve been feeling so drained again these last few days which has been so annoying. It was especially bad yesterday and this afternoon which is… ugh.

Lovejoy’s song from last song Saturday charted, hitting 32 in the top 40 which is so coolM There was also a clip posted of Wilbur talking to the chart host about how the band formed… which included him just seeing Ash with a bass and giving him his address. Which sounds like it could have gone so so so badly wrong. It’s a wonder nothing happened to him.

The Masked Singer final was tonight and I was right! It was Charlie from Busted as Rhino! Which yeah, I called it from the first time I heard him but it still feels good. And he won too! That was more of a surprise.

Then I watched Starstruck and I’m still so surprised I’m gonna be seeing Adam next week. It’s gonna be so odd (please let there be no strikes or other train issues).

There was also a thing on BBC2 tonight with bond music which was actually pretty good, I’d have been happier if it was longer to be honest though. There was so many great songs in it it’s a reminder of how many banger themes the series has had, especially Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough, and the the older stuff like Goldfinger. (Although the less said about Die Another Day…)

Now I’m either gonna game or watch Who stuff, it depends how I feel.

This is a little early (although it’s gotta be Saturday somewhere already at this point right?) cause tomorrow will be full of nonsense. And also this video came out today

So the new Lovejoy song came out at midnight (which is this one, Call Me What You Like) and I’ll be honest I kinda wasn’t expecting much. My apathy with them (through no fault of their own) had made my interest diminish to such an extent that the only thing that had renewed my excitement for the gig was James Marriott being added as a support.

And then this song dropped.

To say it renewed my excitement for their side of their gig is probably an understatement. I feel that this is the best song they’ve released (I’ve listened to it over ten times now). I can’t exactly place why I like it so much though, it just… is. I’m sure there’s probably some technical musical reason but I dunno the terms so I’m not gonna even try.

I was also excited for the video, since they did it when they were in America and both Quackity and Eret had let slip they were in it so I was interested to see how much they were in it. Alas they’re not in it much, just in the background really (which is a bit of a shame, but it’s awesome they’re in it and I need to try and get a good cap of Eret, or find one) Wilbur’s the main focus of the video and he looks pretty.

The video is one of those ones that’s a bit random and you’d probably not have got ‘this song is a plane song’ from the lyrics so I’m wondering what the thought process is there. And what’s the deal with the mannequins? And why is the plane crashing? And why is Wilbur so pretty? And why does he think ‘I know you’re gonna kill me’?

There’s so many questions.

I’m manifesting that the next single has a video in Brighton with Tommy, Ranboo and/or James (ideally all of them).
shadowhive: (Patrick Cream)
So a few days ago Fall Out Boy put up a new song. I didn’t listen to it at the time but I did now, so here’s the video for Love On The Other Side

So I’ve only heard it once, as I watched the video, and it’s… ok. It’s not great to me, but maybe it’s one of those things that will grow on me if I hear it more. (Or maybe it’s just cause I’m not a massive FOB fan)

The video is strange with old Pete, oddly, telling a little girl a story (maybe his granddaughter) of how FOB formed in a strange place and ended up being chased out by a wolf mayor and there’s an emo island! It’s a bit strange, but then Fall Out Boy videos tend to be. (And why was Andy in face paint?)

I did like the freeze fame bonus if the books at the start, Good Charlotte’s Web was the one that caught my eye first but he others are neat references (though Web is the best one I could make out)

Also ‘Joe’ is a Racoon for some reason? There’s some statement about him taking a hiatus or something, so it makes me wonder if it’s actually Joe under there or if it’s someone else instead. Does that also mean that whoever would play his part at gigs would also have to wear a Racoon outfit? I hope not because that would get insanely hot and hard to see (right?)

Also, for no other reason than I watched it last night, here is an extra video that has zero relation to FOB’s. So here is Weather’s video for Problems.

I decided last night to look through some of Weathers videos when I couldn’t sleep and this was the one that I found that stuck out. It’s a song from the first album (which I really need to listen to more) and it stuck out for a few reasons.

The band are trying to get a briefcase for some reason (it doesn’t seem there’s a hint of what’s meant to be in it, but the logical assumption is money). You get the guys barging into a store to rob the case with gives us Cameron with a bandana (red, which my brain helpfully reminded me was bandana code for fisting), with guns (Cameron looks kinda hot with them) apart from one of the other guys that had a samurai sword for some reason (also hot and also I need to learn the others names). They get the case and it turns out to be all for nothing as the case is full of big plushie ducks (I’d call that a win though)

There’s also strange dance moves (which must’ve been made for the song as some are in the other version of the vid, more on that later), which I do like for some reason. Though honestly they missed out. They put a line about crawling on the floor and Cameron does zero crawling. What a waste. Though I did like the bit where the two guitars (or guitar and bass) cross their necks in front of Cameron.

Also it seems Cameron directs the videos (he did Where Do I Sign? Too) which has me thinking how much is his idea.

For some reason there’s another video for Problems, which is completely different and incomprehensible thing that was released a year later according to their YouTube. Other than having some of the dance moves it’s a completely different thing (and the band feel superfluous to it.

So I’ve decided to keep doing Song Saturdays so here’s the first one.

This is Subwoolfer’s vid for Give That Wolf A Banana. This isn’t the version I was gonna use. I saw them tweet a link to the vid from the Eurovision show that was on New Years and I was gonna post that. But when I went to check today it’s been copyrighted which sucks.

So instead here’s the music video version which I’d not actually seen. The song is… strange, especially since the lyrics could easily be adapted into a video. Instead we get this, with the band being in space (i know it’s been mentioned they’re alien wolves so I guess this is that?) so it’s a bit strange.

If you recognise the song, it’s because they performed it during last years Eurovision and it was one of the most memorable parts of it.

It’s just such a shame the Eurovision party version got copyrighted cause it was epic. I might rewatch it just for them.

Yesterday I ended up watching The Rig. I intended just to watch the first ep, but it had me hooked so I watched the second as well. (I’d have likely watched a third too if I’d felt able) After this post I’m gonna watch another ep or two. Hell I might finish it this weekend instead of watching Who or starting Elden Ring. I definitely wanna know what happens, because there’s not even horror/mystery things set at sea.

I feel better today then I did the past few days, though still feel a bit drained.

I dunno why but Midnahas been super cuddly recently. It’s super sweet and she’ll even climb nearby to get my attention to lower my legs/move whatever’s on my lap. It’s strange since usually I’ve tried to get her on my lap but she’s been stubborn and now she actively wants to.

We walked the pup today, though not too far as there’s been some heavy rain. On the way back I stopped at the co-op to get some things and they had the new Lego Minecraft magazine which is yay, even though it’s set has a spider eww.

I tried to build the Earth Orbit thing today and managed to build it up though I think it needs glue as some parts tend to come apart if you so much as look at them. The wires connecting the motor to the batteries didn’t exactly feel safe either and it felt like it had one setting: super fast. Maybe there’s something I’m missing. I might colour it and look for glue to keep it together better.

I got The Lost City and Sonic 2 cause they were reduced on Amazon, both of them coming today. So I put The Lost City on this afternoon. It was very fun and definitely inspired by Romancing The Stone (that was so obvious). But I think we need more films like that. I definitely see myself watching it again and wouldn’t mind if they did a follow up at some point, I might watch Sonic 2 tomorrow and/or Glass Onion.

Then we watched Bohemian Rhapsody which was pretty good, if sad in parts. I wonder how much is accurate and how much… isn’t.

Now I’m gonna bundle up, watch The Rig some more and maybe fic. And hey Subwoolfer has come up.
shadowhive: (Awsten Rainbow boy)
So this is gonna be the last song of the year at least, because Christmas, so here it is

So this is Waterparks new video Fuck About It. I’ll be honest, I’ve fell out of love with parx since last seeing them. Unfortunately this is (much like MCR) due to the toxicity of the fan base which has put me off them. However because of their placement on the pod thing Waterparks follows Set It Off, so often I end up listening to them when I put on SIO (and getting disappointed because of the shirty fan base cause of the boys being pretty and liking the songs).

Of course that has also been helped by the new songs not being great. Funeral Grey is ehish (though the song at least gave us Awsten I’m a collar) and I only heard self-sabotage once and disliked it (maybe I ‘lol give it another chance) so when Fuck About It came out I didn’t listen to it right away, but when I did I instantly liked it. I’ve listened to it more times than the other two songs combined.

I can’t exactly place why I like it though. I guess it kinda ‘feels’ like the other parx songs that I’ve liked (even though it has another guy on there).

This morning’s been the first time watching the video and it’s pretty good. The boys look pretty and I like the setting is like, a museum so there’s lots of art which looks pretty good. (I’ll be honest I kinda wondered if Otto was meant to be an exhibit). So yeah, I hope more songs on the album are like this one, but I guess we’ll see.

***

I might make another, more general post sometime later in with other things. (Maybe after lunch or tonight, tomorrow at the latest.)

I have thought a bit recently about retiring song Saturday or at least changing it to be it’s own thing (because too often I’ll post the song stuff, then add general stuff and people react to the general stuff but not the song which feels like it makes making them kinda pointless.) i guess I’ll see how I feel after new year (if I do I might do Weathers some more cause I’m curious)
shadowhive: (Dream Dolls)
So this song, Bury The Light, was tweeted by my friend yesterday and it’s been stuck in my head so here.

It’s called Bury The Light and it’s from Devil May Cry 5, which I now wanna go on more (I played on it a bit when it was on game pass and I got it on sale, the main draw is V who is incredibly hot). I don’t recall hearing it in the game, so maybe I’ve not been at a section where it is? Or maybe it’s a credits song? I dunno. Either way it’s great, though it is long. (Unlike other song Saturday’s this is just the music, with no actual video)

But yeah I’ve listened to it like… 10+ times and the title of the last fic is causa it.

***

Other things. Yesterday there was a Christmas craft fair which was thankfully disappointing (though we got pickled onions and I got… four candles from a raffle, points if anyone knows why that’s funny).

I watched a few things that were new to me yesterday, namely the Guardians Of The Galaxy holiday special which was fun (I loved the song at the start I hope it’s on Spotify somewhere soon). And then I watched Willow, which was pretty good (and had Val Kilmer in a dress!) and it makes me curious for the new series that starts this week.

I’ve managed to do the Fortnite quests, though I think making these daily ones long winded was a mistake considering the timing. As such I’ve not done much on Pokémon, though I just beat the next titan and got some of the terra raid Eevee’s, though I’m still some types short.

I did finish Chai’s fic yesterday which I’m super glad about and I think it worked out pretty great.

Sadly mums money didn’t go in yesterday so I wasn’t able to get anything (though I did find out slime story, despite not having plushies in the sale, has insanely good shipping). I’m hoping to get the las Nevadas stuff tonight though, if my money is in early enough and the code is still active.

Annoyingly my head went funny, which it has the last few nights so I didn’t do much in the night, ugh.

Today we just ended up with Christmas films on (I hoped to watch specific things but fortnite) still they were actually entertaining ones that I did end up enjoying. I just did the streamer reference pic post at last. I also watched the new Misfits vid which was so… questionable (why add a functional hole Ranboo???)

Now I’m gonna watch the new Frankie Drake Mysteries and then I dunno. It depends how my head feels.
shadowhive: (Cameron Shoulders)
So this is an early song Saturday for two reasons. Reason 1: on Friday Pokemon Violet comes out so I’m gonna be very distracted by it this weekend. Reason 2: Weathers released a new song with a new video so…

So first I didn’t know there was a video or song until like… 30 minutes ago? I had a notification pop up from tumblr that a weathers tumblr made a post (I didn’t have notifications set up so I dunno why tumblr decided to let me know, but it’s good for something). So I put on the song on Spotify and gave it a listen. At first I wasn’t sure if they played it at the show, but once it hit the chorus I instantly knew that they did (because Cameron got us to sing ‘my mind, my mind’ and ‘sleep tight good night’.

So after listening to the song twice I went to the bands twitter and saw there was a vid so decided to go watch it to make this post.

So the video is part standard band performance vid, but there’s also clips of a random blonde lady towards the start and also part is (randomly) in found footage style.about midway through there’s a random shot of someone bleeding that very much caught me off guard. And then towards the end there’s bodies with more blood and the found footage style is of the guys. (Including Cameron, with the lower half of his face covered in blood)

It made me wonder if the implication was that they were vampires, but they didn’t seem to have any fangs. Maybe I should rewatch it a few times just to be sure…. (And to make caps)

****

Other things? Well I did quite a few of the things from the list I put in the last post so yay? I might watch Ghostwatch tomorrow after Taskmaster,

I’m glad I started Once Upon a Jester (and might be able to finish it before pokemon) because it’s so funny and random and crazy. It’s also so strange hearing Foolish, Corpse and Karl in a game (and I heard them all today!) I’m now in the third town, Zeehaven and I think there’s just the place after this one, so it is doable to finish it tomorrow. Maybe.

I’m sure I’m missing something too, but ah well, I can do another post later.

Now to watch Quackity flirt with Foolish, oh how I’ve missed this.
